Art Consultant & Integrated Visioning

I regularly undertake arts consultancy work.

I work with clients to explore imaginative methods for integrating meaningful, inclusive and distinctive

place-specific creative programmes into the fabric and context of existing communities or new developments.

These projects often evolve in response to particular planning requirements and include housing and retail developments. My work seeks to embed artistic research, thinking and practice into proposed and existing buildings, landscapes, shared public realm and the spaces in between.

Activating Public Realm

My work often activates and animates the public realm. Temporarily through actions, encounters and interactionswith passers-by and permanently with, for example, the installation of sculptural markers.

The depth of narrative in each project is fundamental; the creative process responds to and reveals something ignored, lost, unfamiliar or forgotten about the place in which it is located.

Sometimes these projects are realised in collaboration with other Artists & Makers and always offer enriching, unexpected and participatory exchanges.

Encounter & Exchange

Much of my work is socially-engaged and includes action research projects, collaborations, arts residencies and delivering creative programmes with people from all backgrounds.

My approach challenges preconceptions about artistic practice and engages participants in the co-production

of work by devising and sharing the creative experience.

My purpose is to make work that reflects an inclusive process of encounter, endeavour and exchange and to offer an alternative expression of communities, neighbourhoods and the world around us.

Teaching & Mentoring

I am a part-time lecturer on the Landscape Architecture

and Interior Design programmes at University of Gloucestershire.

My teaching offers students enriching opportunities to engage with real places and real communities as professional and creative citizens.

I encourage students to openly explore and embrace the world around them in order to develop a rich and imaginative skillset that will enable them to respond to all design (and life) challenges with a greater sense of ethical purpose, social justice and responsibility.
